the hatch on my foxbody rattles. I have the striker adjusted so far down that I really have to slam the hatch just to get it to latch, and it still rattles,I dont get it.
do I have to shim out the latch assembly that is mounted on the hatch or something?

bushing

is the bushing broke off or is the rubber stops gone. i had a hatch car and the bushing was gone and it rattled. it just a plastic piece so they can break off.
latemodelrestoration.com sell them the bushing is 2.99

dont need the bushing...got electrical tape? move the striker back up a little. wrap electrical tape around the striker a few times(in place of the bushing) try that worked for me!

when I set my latch I remove the adjustable stops completely and set the latch to where the hatch closes snug then take out the side slop by re installing the adjustable stops and adjust them.

i had the same problem with the latch..used the tape method for a while...finally got the plastic bushing and adjusted everything properly...now the hatch shuts like a dream...no more slamming the hatch 5 times till it closes.

Does anyone have the time to post an image of what their latch system looks like that doesn't rattle...I'm about to take on the task to fix mine and wanted to make sure I'm not missing anything. Thanks!
