I've been lifting mine from the differential since day one and no problems. You have to be careful you don't catch the cover though.

i remember reading somwhere that is a big :nono: they said it cant support all the weight

I don't care what "they" say, that's the only way I've ever lifted mine in the rear and I never had any trouble. I've done that for years with all my RWD cars and never had any issues. It can't support all the weight???? What do you think drives all that weight when it's on the ground? If you don't feel comfortable doing it my way, then don't do it.

I've read the reason that you are not supposed to jack your car up on the differential is because of some type of alignment issue. The differential has some type of alignment that may be messed up if you jack your car up on it. I'll try to find out where I read that.

Yes, the by-the-book way says not to lift from the differential. But go tell that to all the enthusiasts and mechanics who have been doing that for decades. Don't worry, it's fine. I've done it many times that way.

I jacked mine up from the heavy duty brace right in front of the diff. Is it the axle carrier? Don't know, but its bolted straight to a crossmember. Probably the safest place to do it IMO. Its very beefy... and rusty... :D

You mean the 8 pound vibration dampening weight? The one that's held on by like 2 bolts and some rubber isolators?

 :nono: :nonono:

Is this the same thing that looks like a dogbone? I used that instead of my differential before. I've also heard that people remove it for weight reduction. If I'm thinking of the same thing.
