Well I have about 2000 miles on my new motor and everything is going good so far. I left town for about 4 days last weekend and came back to see that my rear main is leaking about 2 drops a day. I havent driven it since because I am real busy this week. I was wondering if it was because it was sitting so long? Im just concerned because im still running regular 10w30 oil and am planning on switching to synthetic the next oil change and know it will probaly leak more with the synthetic.

ive heard multiple reasons for this, either its from age, typical for the motor, problem with the pcv or the crank case isnt vented properly. if its a fresh rebuild check/replave the pcv or add a crank case breather. crank case pressure can build up if the pcv is clogged or if the crank case isnt vented properly, causing the leak. also if its a bigger cube motor (331/347) it may need a breather tank.

im with the one guy i would check for something else leakin just to be sure... ive worked on cars for a while and stopped more rear main seal leaks by putting new intake gaskets on than rear mains.... is there any oil anywhere else on the car?
