Rear Seat Delete and shifter boot Wanted

Hey, does anyone know where i can get a pretty inexpensive Rear seat delete. im going to do it for some weight reduction. still keeping the orig. seats though. Also, if you know where to get a low rise shifter boot. i want to see the shifter but not the nasty stuff under it. this is all for an 87 gt

This is the only site I know of with rear seat delete kits. They have a 1/4 inch thick plastic version that wieghs only 14lbs. Its around $200 I think. Check it out.

Or you can make your own. A little time consuming, but most guys have it done for less than 50....or so they say.

make it yourself thats what i did cost me about 40 bucks including the carpet from any local car audio place, a piece of thin plywood, carpet glue, and a few screws...

Depending on whether or not you still have a console, you could always opt for one of those Hurst shifter boots with the chrome trim ring. If you don't have a center console and your carpet underneath isn't all hacked up, it's do-able quite easily. You'd also probably want to put a boot on the E-brake, or switch to an '86 or earlier E-brake handle and then add a base trim piece from an Escort.

Otherwise, most aftermarket shifter boots won't quite rig up right to a Fox shifter without leaving a bunch of open space around it in the center console trim ring. All of the ones I've seen made to just sort of bungee around the top near the knob and the bottom near the shifter base.

Or ... you could always just hunt the boneyards for a stock piece.

sounds good but i think im going to put in my hard work into the car. the seat delete isnt too hard to make and i can make the openings to my specs and liking, and i can also buy some vinyl and make m shifter boot. my brother did it to his 71 stang and it looks awesome

no its pretty much straight forward just make a template and trace it out and carpet it....i chose to cut holes in it for my harnesses but if yuor using seat belts you dont even need to get that creative...then just make a few brackets with some sheetmetal or something to hold it in place...hope that helps

yeah it helps the only thing im going to do is make a section to open and close for the spare and jack along with a small 8" sub i got from friend

Not to hijack here, but I hope you never have to use those harnesses with the way you currently have them mounted. Without a crossbar to mount them to, they will compress your spine and could cause a severe spinal cord injury that could result in paralysis.
