Those of you who deleted your rear seat (and drive a hatchback)... How did you do it? I was planning on just making a wood box to cover the exposed area of tha floor... I was wondering if anyone else has done it like that and if they had dimensions or something to help? I'm not tha best with wood-working.... thanks

I used some 2x2 pieces of wood and l-brackets to build a small frame. Then I got some mdf board (just light 4x4 by 1/2" thick boards) to lay on the frame. Just try to use as little and as light of supplies as you can. After it was all set I cut come very thin audio carpet to cover it all up. The project didnt look pleasing when I first opened the hatch to tackle it, but soon enough i was half way done and Im glad I did it.

I haven't yet but I am planning to just have custom carpet moulded into place. I did it to reduce weight, so adding wood, more brackets and all just is not an option.

My buddy bought one for his can what a joke all it was was a piece of wood with carpet on it. I think it was 1/4 or 1/2 plywood do like RacEoHolic330 said use cardboard first thendo it out of wood.

thats not all mine is lol, you can do it 2 ways, ghetto, or good. I have seen maybe 2 other rear seat deletes that where actually good, rainfires, and the user with the white turbo lx. Probably others but these ones are what I can remember..

I haven't fully mounted the wood boards so Im going to take the mockup out and take pics of the frame. The cars still on jackstands being built and the engines still on the stand being built. I'll have those pics once its all finished (no camera now)

All my supllies weighed about the weight of a thick piece of carpet. Def. ALOT lighter the way it is now campared to before. I did it to loss weight also, which is why I planned it all out instead of just throwing in some bull$-- piece of wood rapped in carpet. Either way I figure I lost some weight but making it impossible to ever cary more than one passenger lol.

plus, its impossible to make the rear seat section of our hatchbacks look good, the seats and how it meats up with the trunk just all looks like a$$ to me. Unless its mob's car of course, his rear seat looks mint.

why would you delete the rear seat and add wood instead? the purpose of deleting the rear seat is to reduce weight and adding wood is making it equally heavy or even heavier. maybe you're all doing it for looks or something!

I didn't get rid of my seats for the weight. I did it because I was bored one day and wanted a project to work on. I didn't want to be bothered by people asking for rides all the time when I drove to school. I also wanted a cool looking place to put my amplifiers. My reason was geared toward looks not loosing weight.

I just bought some "carpet by the yard" from 50esto.com and laid it down. looks ok but i eventually want to do something different.
