It's not as crafty as JT's, as his upper folds down as well, but it's the same design, and it didn't take us too long at all to do

How did you re-mount the headrest piece (whatever you call it)... also... could you take some more pictures from behind and in front... I think I'm ready to take this challenge on next week.. so I can mount my amps and get my stereo back!!!

I've always wondered how ppl did their subs in the back of the seat like that. Do you have a custom box that is connected to the back of the seat? Or did you get free air subs? I have some JL W6V2's that would definately need an enclosure, but I'm not sure the easiest way to mount them and have them enclosed without making a completely custom box (which would probably be a huge hack job for me).

Make your own, its pretty easy. I made mine out of 2 Aluminum sheet's, then covered it in Carpet

Well, I can't take any more pictures of my RSD at the moment, I'm a little indisposed at the moment, but I can answer a few questions.

The headrest part of the backseat, IIRC I didn't even have to take it out. We used the mounts for the frame that used to hold the back seat into place. When I get home (2 months from now) I'll take a look and confirm that.

As for the subs, I have a custom box built into the back of the RSD that comes down underneath the Mach 460 amp rack. It leaves you less room in your trunk, but compared to what I had in there before (just a box sitting in there), it's not so bad. I can now fit two sandwiches in the trunk instead of one.

The RSD is really quite easy to build yourself if you just take your time and do the measurements properly. Once you have main template traced out, you can be creative and use your own idea's to create new storage areas, mounting points for nitrous, etc. Remember, Piano hinges are your friend.

On that note, JT, what did you end up using to make your storage area more finished looking? I still haven't touched it, and I wouldn't mind some ideas for when I'm getting back into it.

Aaron, I never really did a whole lot with it. I got 4 rectaingular plastic containers that fit under there (two on each side). I use those to hold CDs, hand cleaner and other crap that otherwise would be rattling around down there. It aint much to look at but works well functionally. Otherwise I'd loose all that little stuff.

inphiniti, thanks for the kind words. As you've now seen, Aaron's is much nicer than mine.

I was searching for something in mod-motor land and came across this thread. I didn't really read it or pay much attention to the contents of the thread but the template pics looked good so I thought I'd post it up on this thread in case it helps someone.............

someone said something about paper and wire for a temp... that's gonna suck

stick with cardboard or posterboard to make the template.

other thoughts on material instead of plywood is Hardboard (cheap!) or Aluminum.

and if you're going to make the back section for subs... use 3/4 mdf(heavy i know kinda defeating RSD purp)... but it's what you should make a sub enclosure out of... 96white cobra need ideas on boxes pm me... i've made a couple diff for stangs... and specifically for the W6..v1's though. (non mach trunk) i'll happily send you the box spec's

that looks pretty kick ass

How are the rear seat delets held into place? I have one that needs to go in but its just the wood w/ the cloth covering it but how do they mount to where the seat used to be?

I'm not sure how others did theirs but on mine I made some brackets that bolt into the front of the trunk (using bolts that are already in the pan). Those hold the rear of the RSD up. In the front, I have another set of brackets mounted to the RSD itself that keeps the RSD from sliding forward.

95gtvertstang, that looks great!

that looks damn good! I especially like the two tone idea...

Now your template can be used for all the vert guys out there that have been looking for this sort of thing!

Good job!

Holy crap 95gtvertstang! That looks amazing! I am inspired... I may have to buy a sewing machine just to do this

I would also like to know how the subs are vented in the back... seems there is very little room back there, especially with the top down.

Plywood and hinges were $12 at Lowes b/c I don't have a jig or table saw. I had them cut it for me to my specs and then use the 2 holes where the bottom cushion connected to keep it from sliding.

It folds up for storage under and the back rest is connected with 4 wire ties from the inside of the trunk.

Hope this helps some you out there.
