Take the top off first from inside the car. Then undo the shock from the shock mount bracket under the car. You should be able to compress the shock up or down. This should work. Let us know and welcome aboard.

And if you don't care about the shock, get yourself a nice pipe wrench and grab the top part of the shock with it. Let it grip nice and tight and wedge it against the underbody wherever it hits. Then you'll be bale to rmove the nuts from inside.

I had the same problem a few months back, Put vise grips on the rod, and undo the top nut, the vise grips should get tangled up with something allowing you to turn the nut.

You can use a rubber gripper so you don't tear up the shock. You can also try to hold the upper end of the shock stud with a pair channel-locks.

I had the same problem myself a few weeks ago. Try using an impact wrench. I did this and it zipped the top bolts off with ease without spinning the shock even though the bottom bolts were already off and the shocks loose from the rearend brackets.

Sometimes it helps to have a second person hold the shock underneath the car while you rip on the top part inside the car. But if this isnt possible then the previous mentioned methods work just fine

i got it off. I just took the vice of my bench and tighten that sucker down un tell the shock was a inch thick and then just took my ratchet to it .
But the air shock i put on it know is screwed up. the top of the shcok(the rod) comes out the top .
