rear shocks that rub the tires

i dont know what else to call them but the rear shocks that are kinda horizontal that rub the inside of the tires,
what do they do?
can i take them off?

sorry for being dumb!

They are quad shocks, they help control wheel-hop, yes you can take them off, but if you do you should look into some aftermarket control arms.

Look and see if flipping the quad shocks around (end-for-end) will gain you some clearance for the tires.

+1 on trying to flip them first, if you don't have aftermarket control arms.

i couldn't get away with ditching them, way too much wheel hop, although some people can. a set of good LCA's apparently helps if you want to remove the shocks. I had to cut the dust shield off of my aftermarket quad shocks in order to fit my 275's
