I've been doing a little bracket racing during the summer and I'm trying to inprove the traction. I've been toying around with the idea of installing a 4-link rear suspension. I saw that Rad Rides installed a kit on Ebay's "Fastforward Fastback", but the kit is not availiable to the public yet. Not to mention most universal kits cost around $1000 and I have no garage or welder. Traction bars look so tacky and everybody has them (even those who can't break loose the tires if they tried). The newest Summit Racing catalog has the Roadmaster Active Suspension kit which is supposed to act like helper springs, sway bar, and a traction bar in one. Best of all, the kit costs about $200. This seems to be a easy and economical way to go, but there is no applications for passenger cars. I just wanted to know what you all think.

I just put a good chunk of money into my rear and rear suspension. From what im told, its a setup that should hook pretty well with my built 347. The only thing that could be different are my shocks for better traction....

9" rear with auburn 3.50 gears

Edelbrock IAS shocks

4.5 leaf mid eye springs

Cal Tracs (traction bars)

245/45 Nitto 555Rs

IM hoping to run high 11s making about 350hp to the wheels @ 2500lbs

If you don't like the looks of traditional traction bars, get the shelby style. Hardly noticeable. What tire are you running? Some drag radials will probably yeild better results above anything else. Are you subframe connected? If you start really hooking up, you will twist your chassis if not connected.

Perhaps replacing your rear leaf springs to 5 leaf would help. I have replaced my original 4 leaf springs with mid-eye 5 leaf performance springs and it made a big difference - no more wheel hop, even with NO traction bars.

No, I haven't installed subframe connecters yet. They are on my "to do" list. Right now I'm filing bankruptcy, so cash flow is extremely slow. I am runnig slicks at the drag strip (28x10x15, I think, they are in my shed and I don't remember if they are 10" or 11"). The rear springs are the original 4 leaf, I think. I haven't looked at them to know for sure. I have been wanting to get them rearched or replaced. Hopefully I can get financially ahead and get the 'stang ready for racin'. I'm still curious about the Roadmaster kit.

The 4-link setup would be a wicked sweet option for my car!! I would definetley be saving up for that one when my car finally becomes road worthy... I am already drooling over it...
