Rearend howl in turns

Sounds like it could be TSB 07-22-08 Moan/Groan while making low speed turns. Ford dealer fixed this problem for me when my car was under warranty.

Not sure if this is what it could be or not, but here goes. I was having the same kind of issue with my 05. Although, I figured out it wasn't just in turns it was anytime I was slowing down. I ended up getting the car up and opening the differential. Every bolt on my ring gear (I think about 8 of them?) were absolutely loose about to fall out. I did replace the gears in my car about 8-9 months ago and torqued those bolts down to specs (I believe 70lb). My guess is that I didn't break in the gears like I was supposed to... Anyways, tightened all of the bolts again to specs and haven't had an issue since. Again, no clue if this could be your problem or not but figured I would share because the description of your noise sounds alike.

i had the exact same problem. actually sounded like the wheels were rubbing my wheelwell. it was my differential. had it replaced and no problems since

Mine was just an issue of too many bean burros.

lol... yeah, mine sounded like the wheels rubbing on the wheelwell as well. I actually thought it was a wheelbearing at first and had to go through all of that before I realized it was in the differential.

My had the howl since new. When I added the FRPP axle girdle, I used Royal Purple and Ford limited slip additive. No noise since.
