Rearend I.D.

My car has been converted from 4 cyl to 302 by someone else somewhere along its way. I'm trying to find out how much has been changed on the vehicle. The I.D. tag on the rearend is no longer there. Is there any other way you can I.D. them. I know that on some truck rearends, you can count the number of bolts on the diff cover to determine between some rearends.? I'm trying to figure out if I still have the 7.5 or if it has been changed also.
