Rearend rebuild/upgrade

After driving about with a toasted posi for about a year, I am set to do my posi/31 spline axle swap tomorrow. Anyone have any advice or links to any walkthroughs? Is this something I can feasibly do in my garage ? From reading, my biggest fear deals with the gears backlash and such, as it seems to be the most measurement intensive. Should I be worried? I'd basically be keeping them in there and just pulling out the posi and axles.

So you are going to re-use your gears on another carrier if I read right. Just make sure you check the backlask and mesh pattern, carrier to carrier can vary from FORD. I'd suggest a new cruch collar/sleeve NAPA has these on a rack, and new carrier bearings.

Are you doing C-clip elimns?

No, retaining the C-clips. I got quoted at $250 out the door for the whole job. I might go that route for peace of mind.
