hio..

what's all included in fixing the limited slip in my rear end? what parts do I need....

the shop here quoted me $1800 for parts+labor on changing gears and fixing the LSD.... but labor would only be $430.. (canadian)

is the limited slip just the "master bearing" kit sold with gears? if not.. where the hell can I buy it! :P

also... what spline axle would a stock 96 gt have? 31 or 28 :O

If you aren't made of money, look at Ebay. You can get crazy deals there. I got an open 31 spline for like $60, and a mini spool for it for $75. Just search for 8.8 differential. You'll want a 31 spline limited slip. It's a good idea to throw in all new bearings while you're in there too, especially since yours is a 96. You can also get those bearings on the bay of E's. Search for 8.8 install kit.

so i should be looking for a

"31 spline traction lok limited slip differential" ?

if someone could give me a link on ford racing of all the parts necessary for this.. all the bearings and which one.. i'd REALLY appreciate it :( im completely ignorant in this subject

All you need to do you get a new ring and pinion (Gears) and a new
bearing kit. www.50resto.com
Hey call Brain tomarrow and he hook you up with everything you need.
Buy the parts yourself it's alot cheaper that way trust me.The shops
like to rip people out on gear installs.

If your not going with a lot of power anytime soon or don't already have it then you should be fine with stock parts.

8.8" TRACTION-LOCK REBUILD KIT :M-4700-B, $45
8.8" Ring & Pinion : your choice $145-200
8.8" Installation Kit: Rat-3008k, $120

here are you two choices IMO

diff M-4204-F318 ~$225
axles M-4235-E ~$225
install kit M-4210-C ~$100
gears M-4209-F373N or M-4209-F410A ~$170

this would run arount $700-750 so about $1200 total you may also consider adding a t/a rear girdle and welding the tubes and torque boxes if you go this route as then you will be able to launch hard on slicks without fear of breakable

or

gears M-4209-F373N or M-4209-F410A ~$170
install kit M-4210-C ~$100
trac lok rebuild kit M-4700-B ~$50 or M-4700-C ~$100 (CARBON FIBER CLUTCHES)

this is the cheapest way to do it but the rear is very breakable on a sticky tire. most likEly fine though if all your ever run is street rubber.

as for where to buy just punch those par numbers in google and find the cheapest place. I got the best deal at summit when I did mine but the price on the diff has went up on there site since then.
