could someone please explain to me rearend sizes. 8" 9" 8.8" Kind of confused.

What exactly do you want to know? As far as the real early models, 8 inch rears came stock on C and most? A code stangs, the 9 inch available on the Ks I believe. I'm not exactly sure when 8.8"s made their debut, but they are stock on foxbodys. 8<8.8<9 inch in strength.

8 and 9 inchers are the same basic design and many parts interchange, they just obviously have a different size ring gear.

The 8's are oval and the 9's are more roundish.

The 8, 9 and 8.8 refer to the size in diameter of the ring gear.
