rearend

All GT's had an 8.8, and they are a limited slip diff (Trac Lok).

Enjoy the new ride! You should have pictures ready because you will get slammed with pic requests. :D

the clutches in your rear-end are worn if you're doing a one wheel peel.

You can get the kit for around 60 or so (I'm not 100% sure on the price)

There should be a good bit of write-ups if you're a DIY'er

btw, welcome to :SNSign: Lots of smart people here willing to help

Is this something I can get a Advance Auto? I found this: http://www.fordracingparts.com/parts/part_details.asp?PartKeyField=5105

Thanks in advance

I got mine from here.

But its the same thing. And I doubt any local places would have it.

Its not that hard to do, but its pretty damn messy. i did my gears and trac lok rebuild this weekend and i did the trac lok in like 20 minutes. Thats just getting it setup, not taking it out and putting it back in. lol

Yeah I want to do gears at the same time. Just trying to decide the ratio but I am pretty set on 3.73.

regarding the gears:

The norm is 4.10 for auto tranny and 3.73 for manual

FWIW, I've heard of people putting 3.73s in their car...and then saying that they should have gone 4.10s

Everyone that I've heard of that put 4.10s in...couldn't be happier.

me, I have 3.73s and love em, I'd like to try a set of 4.10s...but I think I found the point where enough is enough (basically I'm too lazy to switch them out)

good luck in whatever you choose

Until I move I have about an 80 mile round trip drive to work each day, How much difference between stock and 4.10 mpg and the diff between 4.10 and 3.73

Interesting, since it seems according to some people that its not so bad to put in some new clutch packs then I think me doing it will be somewhere in my future.

Hardest part is getting the differential out. Which just consists of taking the cover off, and taking the two c-clips out so the axles come out. Getting that damn spring back in is the hardest part.

Wished I had gone 4.10s. :( :bang:

I have a 20mile hwy + some urban driving to get to work. If the speed limit is 65mph or lower on your commute do not fear the 4.10s. :nono:

Could force you to obey the speed limit.:D

When the hwy speeds get >75mph then 4.10s could be a touch too much.
