I have a holley 4 barrel I bought off ebay "works great, very nice".... learned my lesson! :fuss:

It seems to have a bent throttle plate as it will only idle fast and you can't slow it down and I had a mechanic work on it for me still no dice.

Is it worth having this thing totally rebuilr, keeping in mind I am already in this thing 85.00 with shipping.

Thanks

You can buy individual parts from a company called: pony carburetors. I have replaced many a throttle plate because they had too big of holes drilled in them so it would idle better with a big cam. The two plates cost about $10 which include the screws.

yeah, I've learned "your lesson" As well many times. Some times you get the dog sometimes the dog gets you. Anyway, when it comes to carbs unless its a steal, I would just go new. I mean its the foundation for your fuel delivery, why chance it.

It's been my experience that Holley throttle plates don't bend, they break. Throttle shafts can bend, but not in normal operation. When it comes to ebay carbs, if they look fairly new, I'll take a chance on them, but only if they're cheap. As for if your's is worth rebuilding, that's a question I can't answer, not actually having it in hand.

I have had enough swap meet carbs where after I reuild them, I found that castings had micro cracks at the fuel inlet, causing leaks, etc.

I will only go used with known good carbs.
