ok to start off I am new to the 5.0. I have a 97 4.6 that I have done alot to but never thought I would be buying a 5.0 but guess what,, I did. 1993 Ford Mustang Gt ,,, but the one thing that was wrong with it was the transmission has bee taken out and taken apart , 3rd gear was starting to miss at high rpm's so he took it out to fix it and never did. I need to know where I can get the best rebuild kit out there for a t-5 and also how much does it cost to up grade the transmission ?? any website or info will be a great help !!

oh this is going to be mainly just a track car ,, should I go auto or stay stick , ???

If you are going to keep this strictly a track car then you should think of up grading, or you can talk to Liberty transmissions or G-force to upgrade your T-5 if you want to keep it standard. They both have some pretty much bomb proof upgrade kits for the T-5. They are pricey but they won't crap out on you, and they are cheaper then a Tremec. I looked into this not too long ago, because I blew a tranny. I ended up getting a used one with decent gears but blown synchros for nothing and it was about 250 cdn. for the parts, which would be like 175 american for rebuilding it. That was fine for me because Ilearned my lesson about power shifting a T-5 and I drive it on the street.

My T-5 blew up on me the other day. The T-5 isn't good when put up to the abuse that racing it will put on it. An upgrade it the only solution. There is the G-Force T-5 that I am looking at. Uses straight cut gears and is much stronger, dog rings instead a syncs as an option, but is expensive. The 3550 isn't made anymore now there is the TKO 500 and TKO 600. If your going to be racing, I highly suggest doing an upgrade. A rebuild is only a temparary fix on a T-5.
