Rebuilding 5.0 Cobra motor

Will a Ford Racing High Volume oil pump m-6600-d2 fit in pan with no modifications or the need for pickup tube or oil pan. I'm putting new bearings, rings, possibly pistons but I don't want to go over board with all the of things I could buy because of they money it would take. I'm trying to keep it pretty much stock with more upgrades to heads at a later point.

also if your going to put a nice oil pump in there, i would suggest putting a nice billet drive shaft in there for the oil pump. Don't want to have to go digging in the engine because the drive shaft failed. =\

yes i already have an ARP oil pump driveshaft. Any ideas on my question though

A heavy duty oil pump drive is a requirement with a high volume oil pump so you did good.
I ran the same pump and pick up in my old 5.0 with no problems.
To make sure though install the pump and pick up. put clay on the pick up screen. Mock up your pan and pan gasket. Pull off the pan and check if you have 1/4 to 3/8 pick up to pan clearance...PB

I've read a high volume pump in a stock oil pan will suck the pan dry of oil; from what I understand, if you run a high volume pump, you need a 7 qt oil pan. Probably don't need that kinda setup unless you're building a high-revving beast, but I'm no expert.

not sure on the pump stuff, but did the 94 cobras have forged pistions???, if not i would put some in, other wise the bottom end should be good to like 450 horse easy

I my personal experience I've had bad luck with the hi/vol pumps. I've had 2 fail on me and that's ridiculous. My brother had one fail on him and ruin his turbo motor (rebuilt 2.3L). All 3 were Melling. Needless to say I'm using a std/vol pump for my SC 6.4L...PB
