I've been playing around with the idea of a new 'stang but decided to save money (both from insurance and new car cost) by sticking with my '94 5.0 with 196,xxx miles.

I recently graduated and have found a great job that will allow me to have th e $$ to spend on my car. I want to start off with engine work, whether it be a rebuild or whatever the mechanic recommends, so that I could have a solid foundation. I ultimately want to produce at least 300HP and ?? of torque. Also, I would like to leave myself the option of installing a blower or turbo kit. Let me know who's around, what shops you've been to, and prices.

Would you guys prefer a shiny new car or a shiny customized car you've driven for years and know inside and out?

Longwood area - Jake LaMotta Performance Auto - good guys, one of the few places I would let work on my car if I couldn't fix it.

Downtown Orlando - Powered by Ford. Where I get most of my parts locally. I haven't tried their shop, but the mechanics I have spoken with are willing to take time and listen to you.

Central Florida Motorsports - Longwood - another good place to get Mustang or Focus high performance parts

Look in jrichkers sig above, it says before you build a house, build a good foundation. Thats what I am trying to do. Suspension work first, then more power. I cant get traction with a stock motor, it would really be a waste to have a lot of power and not be able to use it effectively. I am looking to get some full length MM subs welded in next, then some adj. control arms...I will have at least $2000 in susp. mods before I build up a motor.

If you need someone to wrench on your stang Lamotta's is the place to go.

Ford performance parts and stuff CFM (central florida motorsports) and PBF (powered by ford) are two of the places that have a bunch for stangs.

Also American Motorsports on the trail, they aren't strictly ford or stang but they have speed parts. Don't even worry about going to the Automotive One speed shop on Orange they don't have crap for stangs. Went in there to get an MSD cap, rotor and some wires. Well they had the cap. :notnice:

Another vote for Jake Lamotta, that guy is magic when it comes to stangs. For just parts stay away from Powered By Ford, try American Motorsports and talk to Tim Manes or go to the guys at CFM, they will have better prices :)
