Recon Xtreme crate engine dyno

I work for Keystone auto and I just sold this kid a Recon "Xtreme" crate engine for an 01 GT. It includes a dyno sheet, and according to Recon, at the crank it put out 262 hp, but torque was 385ft/lbs. Supposedly, this is a .040 over rebuild with new valves, springs, cams, etc... So this to me seems a bit odd...

I've never heard of recon? And you can only go .020 over bore on the 4.6 2V (making it a 302 roughly). Someone pulled a fast one on your boy.

Heh... it was $3500 too. He wanted a "crate 4.6", so I found him one. Nonetheless, the dyno sheet says 385ft/lbs, so it's kind of surprising.

That cuz it'a a stroker, your getting the cubes from the crank not the bore. .020 over is only worth about 3 cubes.

100% correct! the cubes do NOT come from boring at all people. The increased cubes come from stroking.

some people need engine building 101 again

I wish you could get 21 cubes from a .20 overbore.

So my .60 overbore in my coronet equals 440+63= 503 cubic inch mopar wedge. WOW I rock.

I only have 6 stickers I can put on, I do need more. I wish they made carbon fiber pieces for a 69 dodge. Then the wedge could neva lose.

Ha, I don't think they'll work out. I had to call Recon about his engine and I asked them what was up with the torque being up, and he says "Oh, that's just something the dyno guys puts on the sheet."
