I have a Torch Red GT, and was thinking about maybe getting the Shelby stripes in Redfire. I tried it out on the simulator, and it looks good to me. I want something subtle. The silver looks good, black looks ok, but both are so "loud". The Torch Red is loud enough for me, but I think a subtle color stripe would look cool. Opinions?

The white stripes on a torch red mustang is the best combonation on the new stang. Looks like the Ford GT. Redfire stripes on torch red look terrible imo.

no question that the torch red stripes will be subtle.... but the car isnt subtle , and the best looking ones had the dark blue and white stripes and the torch red with white stripes as was stated just above.... try going to a graphics store and buy paper rolls in that color, and then cut them and place them on the hood, both in white and torch red... did you see the picture of the torch red with the shelby hood and white stripes? that and a white with blue stripes, i think looks the best.

Got to be white. I think it would be awesome. You got the loudest color out there. Well, next to yellow anyway. No need to try and tone it down.

I think that the redfire stripes on torch red would look great. I am curious to see someone with white stripes on torch red with blue inbetween the white shelby stripes.

I've got a GT on order and asked the Ford body shop for an estimate on 10" stripes, bumper to bumper. He told me $1,500 before taxes! This seems waaay high. Is this close, or am I on crack thinking it should be less than a grand?

For that kind of money I would expect painted stripes and clear coat over the panels that are striped.

Ah no no no.

The metallic stripes on a solid color will look terrible. I've painted a lot of stripes. Trust me on this.

Yes, that's for painted stripes. Anyone else from upstate New York had stripes painted on yet? What did you pay? Thanks for your help!

OH, I didn't think about the redfire being metallic. That probably would throw it off. Hmmm...

Just an idea that I'm sure at least one other reader of this thread will pounce on me for but how about doing stripes in the same color but in a flat finish? You couldn't get much more subtle than that. This is something I've seen done in interior house painting; something I never would have thought of but it adds a nice, and very stylish touch when done correctly to a room so perhaps it might do the same for a car? Whatever, just tossin' out a potentially insane idea...work is boring this morning just in case you couldn't tell!

There is a lot work to remove some parts and line up the stripeing correctly and clear with smooth edges to the stripeing. Not sure if a dealership people are that careing as they do not perform that type of work daily. So I'd check out the workmanship of the dealer on a few other vehicles first. If you do want very good quality to the job, you may want to locate a shops that do custom painting daily and check them out. In most cases you will get what your willing to pay for. I would estimate the cost at $1,200.

This is what I think they are talking about. Check out the 2005 Mustang Stripe Painter.

You do not want a metallic stripe on a non metallic body or the reverse, whatever the color combo you chose.

Sounds like you are looking for a ghost stripe. In that case either lighten or darken the orignal Torch Red to your liking for that look to be correct.

If you want a subtle, tone-on-tone, look then you will certainly achieve that look with that combination. Kind of reminds me of the black Mach 1's with the black stripes.
