im thinking of painting white stripes on a torch red color. what would you suggest for the kind of paint? im not sure how to go about this with a paint shop. i want it to look right.

Any good body/paint shop should be able to do a nice job for you. They'll get you the right paint. The white on torch red will look great.

I would definately go with the silver on the sonic blue. Again for the metallic factor.

I negotiated painted on stripes as part of the deal with my new car. When it comes in the body shop is painting on black ones for $350. I assume this is their cost or something. It was a deal-maker for the sale of the vehicle, so i'm sure they're not too choked about it. :nice:

I have a Torch Red GT, and was thinking about maybe getting the Shelby stripes in Redfire. I tried it out on the simulator, and it looks good to me. I want something subtle. The silver looks good, black looks ok, but both are so "loud". The Torch Red is loud enough for me, but I think a subtle color stripe would look cool. Opinions?
I think if your looking for the ghost subtle look the refire would look right, just make sure its not metalic. It wouldnt work to have metalic stripes on a flat red body. I got a torch red on order myself and Im going with the white shelby stripes myself.

Badsnake98 thanks for your input there, I dont know much about you, but from your posts you certainly know Mustangs. Sounds like $1000. - 1200 is a good price for painted stripes with clear coat.

I was thinking of 3m vynil stripes but I guess painted is the way to go. Im going to wait and get some body parts added on before I get the racing stripes.I want an Elenore 68 Shelby look with side scoops and all.

GT03 thanks for the link thats a great simulator to decide on colors.

I've got a GT on order and asked the Ford body shop for an estimate on 10" stripes, bumper to bumper. He told me $1,500 before taxes! This seems waaay high. Is this close, or am I on crack thinking it should be less than a grand?

550 for painted stripes from a very reputable shop in sacramento, ca. i found a .5millimeter semi-bubble on the edge in one spot under the rear spoiler, other than that they did a 100% flawless job. great job lining up the stripes too.

anyway, what im saying is it should cost <750 for painted anywhere u look, and less than that for vinyl. 1500 is out of the question
