regret doing cam

Not here..in terms of cam. It runs rough but not so bad I hate driving it. I would like the cam to be a little more friendly but again Green, mine is not a DD either. I love the sound really.

Mine runs surprisingly well for all that I have done to it, but it's still pretty rough. My problem is it'll run perfect on one trip, then maybe a few hours later it's running rough again. I've thought about selling it or at least selling the engine and installing something more street friendly. I've got a few more parts and/or tuning to throw at it before I go that far though.

Really dumb question: Have you thoroughly checked for vacuum leaks? I thought that the E cam got along with our computers. How about plug gap? Good injectors? (Even 19#'ers wouldn't cause those issues.) Are all the connectors on the inj's good? Did you consider using the stock MAF and TB, just for giggles? Stumbling usually seems to lead to some issue with the MAF. Has it been cleaned? I've never used them but, it's about 50-50 for guys that like/have success with C&L meters.


I know you've had it to several shops and replaced a lot of parts. (Not sure what you've replaced, though.) For anyone to help, though, we need to make sure that the basics are covered.

if your that fed up with the cam, why not get a different one? seems to me that if you think the problem is the cam then get a new one. and those C&L mafs are junk. might want to find a Pro-m and try that.

Maybe I missed it... but what Cam did you put in?

I have to agree with Ryan on this one off that C&L they are total garbage and a know cause of many problems with drivability. If you have a cobra I would throw the stock meter back on.

I'd be throwing a vac gage on it to see what it's pulling for vac at idle....that will give an indication of whats going on. I run the Steeda 19 with stock puter and no issues like your getting. If your vac level at idle is to low your gonna have issues..

Try clocking the MAF in 22 deg increments from where it is and test drive and see if something happens.

C&L are more hit and miss with our cars along with that E cam...

Put the stock MAF back on to see if it helps at all. Then change that cam.

It's been pretty much proven that an C&Ls and E-303 cams with our computers are hit or miss, usually miss. Sounds like yours is miss. Get a different cam and make sure it's degreed right.

Here is my take on what you have said

I'm convinced most of the popular h/c/i parts you see peeps using
on these boards will work great in our 94-95 Stangs and that goes
for using the original pcm as well.

I base that on what I've found with my Stang and the sig
combo which I might add ... has a 109 lsa cam

I'm making that statement with the condition that I have been able
to have total control of the
1) Mechanical
and
2) Tuning
as I have done both myself.

I know some don't have that fortunate opportunity

This was said not to brag
but to simply show
I did not have to depend on or wonder if
others have turned wrenches or tuned things correctly

Mechanical Stuff First

I made sure I did whatever it took to ensure all mechanical
issues were returned to original conditions just as Ford
delivered it back in 95.

All electrical connections, vacuum lines, coolant lines, torque settings,
gaskets, and all the rest ... are as they should be.

ANY TIME ... you do a major mod like tear down and build back up
to upgrade h/c/i ... its not uncommon to have to work out a few
bugs here and there.

A lot of the time ... little things like that will cause a car with h/c/i to
never be like it could be

Now ... About The PCM

Hot Rod Parts (not bolt-ons) REAL HOT ROD PARTS ...
totally hose up the PCM to the point it can't cope with the changes

The manipulation of the values in the pcm are another thing that
I had to work at to fine tune things until they were ... right on the
money ... or at least ... very close to it.

Again ... when one has the ability and time
you just work at it until it is ... RIGHT

Honestly ... I'd be willing to bet 1 or 2 or maybe even both ....
are not close enough to allow you to enjoy the car to its
full capabilities.

I'm not trying to pour salt in an open wound here
but
If one works with all the above

Execpt for a bit of cam lope ... It should drive like a little stocker Stang

My gut feeling would be .....

Sounds like some of the peeps who have worked on the car just
over looked something small
