relocated the battery to the trunk over the weekend.

i reused the stock battery tray, made my own hold down. 3/8 rod. and 1/0 cable with terminal ends. i mounted the box tight in the corner so it wouldnt take up much room. i'm gonna make a battery box out of aluminum sheet metal later on.

i routed the cable under the car and through the gommets in the trunk. grounded the battery on one of the quad shock bolts. and made a new ground cable from the stock location on the timing cover to the sway bar bolt.

i put the Taylor cutoff switch behind the license plate so it looks really stock. cant even tell anything was done there.

i didnt run the cable from the alt to the battery even tho i already bought it along with a inline fuse. i wanted to get my car going again so i'll do it later on

the engine bay looks so empty in that corner now.

i noticed a good difference with it in the trunk. i feel the body lift in the front (not the tires lol) and the rear of the car squat down when launching. :nice:

here are some crappy pics. camera batteries were drained and need to be replaced so these will have to do for now

let me know what you think

nice job man, i recently did the same thing. I actually ran my wire under the car through my subframe connectors....it was a bit close to the mufflers so i made a heat guard. anyhow, i ran #4 wire, and it is much too small, i gotta re-run mine. Not to hijack the post too badly, but has anyone found a good route inside the car?

after routing the cable, i noticed that my subframe connectors had a hole on each end so i'll run my alt cable through that way.

people run there cables under the door sills and kick pannel. i preferred it under the car

here are the new pics

no. thats fine. the only reason i'm gonna run a new cable for the alt to the battery is so that my master switch will be fully functional according to nhra rules.

with the master switch off, the car shouldnt start. thats GOOD

with the car running and you flip the switch to off and it still runs, thats BAD you might have cut the battery off in an emergency but now the car is running off the alt.

the switch has to kill the power to the car completly.

i found out that my local track will let me run it like that, they will just tell me to get a box for next time.

i'll make a sheet metal box for it like a Taylor.

i'm gonna run the alternator cable almost the same way as the battery cable. from the lug on the alt, under the car, this time through my subframe connectors, into the trunk through the grommet closest to rear seat on the passenger side. i'm using the other grommet in the trunk for the ground cable. the cable will connect to a inline fuse 125 AMP that will be in the trunk and then connects to the positive terminal

Does it crank as well when you start it? Does the alternator charge as well?
I hear that sometimes people have problems with longer cables because there is more resistance. Which cables did you use? Name of the kit?
Sorry for all the questions. You got me wanting to do this.

it cranks the same as normal when its cold. when its at operating temp and i try to restart, it cranks over a little bit slower but thats because i dont have a strong enough ground. i'm gonna grind the crap out of my rear ground on the quad shock.

alternator charges just like it did before. still havent ran a new line yet tho. still running the stock line. charges the battery at 14.6 volts so its doing good.

i used 1/o cable for everything. 1ga for the alt when i get there.

name of the kit????? "the Danny Ferreira Custom Battery Relocation kit" LOL i made it myself

hey Green mustang GT,
I ran the cable down the drivers side. Cut a hole in the back seat floor hump to pass it thru,Then under the door sil plate up and out the firewall thru the cruise control brake vacuum switch hose gromet (we removed the cruise) between the brake booster and the strut tower and around to the fuse box.
