Reman. Calipers?...

Hey im doing a rotor/pad/brake line swap and i figured my calipers are pretty super old, so getting some decent ones from advance or autozone for cheap wouldnt be a bad idea....what are the best buys for the reman calipers they have?? the 60mm ones...unloaded..
advance has like 5 diff. kinds...bendix is one of them i know they are good..30 bucks a caliper...
but autozone had Fenco's i think and they are only 20 bucks a rotor! lifetime warrenty too...are they ok to get? will they fail on me quick?

Remans are fine, why not upgrade to some 73mm calipers? The company that remans them doesn't really matter, as long as the use quality parts. Bendix is pretty good. Unloaded is simply without pads. Loaded is with pads. I used Autozones lifetime warrantee pads (carbon metallic) with pretty good results. I have no complaints on them.

As far as rotors, for normal street use, any will do, but if you come from a high speed to a quick stop, your going to want to use a quality rotor. It depends on what kind, and quality metal was used to make the rotors. You don't really want to be changing rotors eveytime they warp, even if they are free replacements, do you?

Just ask to look at them, if they look good, and have a STEEL piston, them get them, but if they look cheaply rebuilt, get another brand.

I wouldn't replace your calipers unless
Dust boot is torn, piston is leaking and if your sure that they're binding
I would replace the caliper bolts and those rubber inserts that protect the caliper bolts from dirt and water.
Yes autozones etc lifetime rotors are a good deal for normal city and highway driving.
Just get their best pads.

I got my Bendix 73mm calipers for $15. Are the stock 60mm calipers really more expensive?

and im not gettin 73's cause i dont have the money or faith in upgrading the MC..dont feel like ****in around with it...and dont tell me u dont need one because ive read too many things about how its dangerous not too upgrade it.

Personally I would spend the extra $, and know I have a good product. But that's just me.

or do some searches on the internet on each brand you are considering. you will probably find some links to forums with some info (i did that and found lots of good info when swapping brake pad composition on one of the bikes or cars).

i would spend extra money too, since it is only your BRAKES! the brakes suck bad enough without using crappy(ier) stuff.
for less than the price of a tank of gas practically, you can have some peace of mind. just my thinking.

I'm with the other guys. If it was an exhaust part or a cold air intake i'd say get the cheaper one. But these are your brakes man, get the bendix. It might end up saving ur life.
