Remote trunk release

I installed the remote trunk release from Scott Drake. I can't seem to get it to work. It either wont let the trunk latch or won't open depending on cable positions. Any ideas from someone who has one?

I don't know anything about the Scott Drake remote release, but if its giving you fits and you want an alternative, there is a direct bolt-in electric release latch available. It was actually an option on '70s Ford/Lincoln/Mercury cars such as Granadas, Monarchs, Cougars, Thunderbirds, Mark ??, etc. I got mine at the local u-pull-it yard for less than $10 including the latch and some wiring and a switch... easy enough to wire too. Just a thought.

Does that electric trunk release work for 65-66 cars? I know it works for the later years but haven't heard about the earlier ones.

Cable binding in the sleeve? I have a FoMoCo one from 65 that I haven't installed yet, but it seems to me that the cable must be binding in the sleeve since it isn't letting the latch move.

What year is your car. I have a 65 and i installed a regular doorlock motor that i got off of ebay. The only way to install it was to get rid of the keylock. Cause with the keylock still connected, the lever to open the trunk would not move.

I've repeatedly heard it is a direct bolt-in for all years, but I can't confirm it for earlier models. If you find one in a local u-pull-it yard, I'd say just buy it... even if it doesn't fit, you can always sell it on eBay. There are folks selling these exact junkyard latches for upwards of $50 on eBay.

Well that just sucks... maybe it can be adapted? Maybe that electic doorlock idea would be the ticket...
