Now about 2 weeks and 600 miles ago I had 3:73 gears installed in place of my 2:73 factory gears. And at 110 mph indicated (about 82-83 mph) I now have a vibration (sound not feel). I think it is two fold. Some of it is from the engine (Push in the clutch and most goes away) but some is also the driveline.

Talking to a guy here who put 4:10's in his '02 and he asked if I removed the dogbone (isolator) from the rear end. He said that when he researched his gear swap (he did a LOT of research and did the gears himself) he read that mustnags like the dogbone removed with the lower gears (higher numerically).

Anyone else hear this or do it?

My car is parked until I can get my suspension installed but that should be in less than 2 weeks assuming I have a LOT of problems doing it alone (with the newborn I can't work too much during the week and even weekends are for the family).

Thanks,
Chris

I went from 2.73 to 3.55's last summer and my dog bone is currently sitting on the garage floor.

I have a 94 Vert and went to 3.73's Dogbone still in, no vibrations. Are you going to be using a SpeedCal to correct your speedo, cause they DO work for our year. And it took an hour in the driveway to put mine in. Well worth the cost vice the speedo gear swap.

I did have a sound vibration about 2 years ago that had me in panic mode for about 2 days. Turned out to be the rear tires, started after I had them rotated. The tires on the front got chewed up pretty bad because of the nascar type factory caster/camber setting When they got rotated to the rear, they started making noise. Just a thought.

What are your plans for your suspension, I am doing the very same thing... And yes it is a PITA to do it yourself... I am still sore from putting in my Subfames this weekend....

Good luck

Dosent take nearly an hr to do a speedo gear swap. My speedo gear is still in mint shape after being put in just about a yr ago.

Yep, I ordered the borthers speed cal. Going to do the install while it is on the jackstands.

I bought all KYB shocks and struts (including quads), FMS C-Springs, and a complete poly bsuhing kit... all for a quick $700...

So why did you take your dogbone off?

That is true... I personally had bad luck with speedo gears. could not get them to last very long before they were chewed up. But that was some time ago.

OT Striped how do you like that SN2000? any issues..

Thats a deal for the suspension parts. I am still flipping the coin on what springs I want to use. Having major problems making up my mind.

I did the subframe connectors / strut tower brace this weekend.. And I tell you besides the gear swap, the subframe was the biggest "Seat of the Pants" difference. But it is a PITA if you do it yourself. But the first time I took it out made it all worth it.

I never took the dogbone out of mine...

Too bad that we are not local to each other, we could do both cars at the same time and help each other out on the labor... LOL

Thanks, going to look alot diffrent in a few wks, wont even be the same car.

As far as the blower its been great. Awesome quality and it will push a ton of power, I have just yet to see its potential b/c I had clutch probs all last summer but this yr I should have some good dyno #'s

I ordered everythign through summit. Oh and the $708 includes shipping and a new FMS waterpump for $50.

Springs were $140
Bushing kit was $210
Struts were $140 for the pair
Rear shocks were $100 for the pair
Kicker shocks were $60 for the pair

And of course the labor will be mine.

I removed mine "once" and I got a vibration from the driveline and as soon as it was re-installed it went away. I don't get why it works for some and not for others. I have a Tremec, 373's and al. ds.

That studdering fat dude w/ the glasses is frigg'n hilarious!

Maybe it's just the frigg'n verts that do it?
Be interesting to know some results from other verts to see.

When mine is back on the road if the new bushings don't help (the rear was moving a LOT) then I'll be trying mine without too.
