so I am thinking of getting rid of smog? good or bad idea?
and i think I am starving for fuel, just replaced the plugs to plats on 92 gt.. so thinking of 24lbs injectors.. smog isnt a issue in NC.. having some idle issues and fuel. so wonderiung if getting rid of smog is a good idea or bad.. and as far as fuel, are the 24lb ok for a car with just pipes and headers.. no other mods other than that.

the 24 Lb injectors won't do anything positive for a stock engine. You would need need an aftermarket MAF or custom dyno tune to accomodate them.

Removing the pollution control equipment from a 5.0 Mustang is a bad idea. All you have accomplished is to make the computer mad and spit codes. The pollution control equipment all shuts off at wide open throttle, so the HP losses from it on the car are 2-5 HP. The catalytic converters may soak a few more HP than that. None of the pollution control equipment reduces the HP enough to cost you a race in anything but professional drag strip competition.

Know what does what before removing it. Remove or disable the wrong thing and the computer sets the check engine light and runs in "limp mode". Limp mode means reduced power and fuel economy.

Here's a book that will get you started with how the Ford electronic engine control or "computer" works.

Ford Fuel Injection & Electronic Engine Control 1988-1993 by James Probst :ISBN 0-8376-0301-3.

It's about $30-$50 from Borders.com see http://www.amazon.com/ . Select boo...e to check cars, but it is still Federal law.

so I will keep it on, just trying to fix a idling issue. the injectors i was told are probabaly clogged causing it not to get fuel. the plugs are new and they are white. i know that i cant really clean then so i didnt know if i should replace them... i have used seafaom and new filter. i thinkit helped but still not 100 % of a better drive, have to figure out why i cant hook maf back up with out it causing it to idle really bad and cut off

Is there a way to delete the smog and not throw a check engine light?
I bought a 93 GT that already had the smog removed, but have a 90 GT with it still on it. I'm keeping the 93 and selling the 90... now wondering if I should grab it off the 90 and install on the car I'm keeping.
