Removed dog bone on dif today...

I had nothing better to do so I decided to do so. I was surprised when I weighed it. I always thought it was like 50 lbs or so from what i read. So throw some guesses and see who is correct on the weight...
 
If Guero knew what Ford engineers call the dogbone, he would have kept it in place and even had small children pose with it. :eek:


I personally would never remove it, but that's just me. Just because we don't perceive a resonance (or secondary resonance), doesn't mean it's not there.

i'm with hissin on this one. its not like taking out the stupid 25lb weight on the verts. Personally, I dont think the 10lb weight difference is that much. If I really needed to lose 10lbs, i would eat more salad

It's likely the resonant frequency has to do with the gearing, and if you have swapped out the stock ring & pinion for something shorter, I'd guess the dogbone no longer has any positive effect.
