Ok want to update this one its about a post I posted a month ago or so ,I bought this 92 gt was running hot scince I bought it (2months).I decide to buy new water pump so when I got to the timming cover I removed it to take a look.It has a cloyes 9 keyway.I decied to replace it because it LOOKED to have slack so I bought installed a comp cam,"SO MAYBE THIS IS WHERE I MESSED UP RIGHT HERE IM ASSUMING".I couldve sworn honestly that that it was installed "straight up" before I removed it" I really belive so.I put car togther.fired up.I started to burp radiator noticed it would not stop bubbling.Ran a compression test #8 was lower then the rest at 90 others 120.I took heads off thinking there was the issue.I have a set of ported heads from bjs cylinder heads.Nice heads by the way.Ok so Installed heads.Turned car on sounds Really good at idel.I DID NOTICE when Im at idel when I reved it it reves faster and higher then before.Machine shop said I had 3 bent valves.Anyways here is the problem,I took car to street and was NOT like it was before.I lost power when I floored it it didnt cherp or peel out like before at all.I cant get a hold of the guy i bought the car from to ask whet kind of cam it has.I know it has one but not sure what cam it is.Im thinking maybe i did not install it the chain the way it was,I did line up marks straight up but im not sure. What is i took chain off turned the cam once around and installed it back with the marks lined up.Would that do anything or no?In otherwords what if I removed the chain, when chain was off turned cam around then installed it with marks lined up again could me turning the cam once throw this offf?I havent ran another compression test hoping its not a ring or something in the block.Im assuming its the chain becuase it was like night and day.It had major power before I removed it and when installed it again loss of power.Any thing guys would help here. Its hard to get a hold of someone who knows valve timming installing a cam.Your avarge machanic wont know. Here is a pic of the way i have it set right now,so yes marks lined up but if i moved the cam around then installed the chain could that screw up the way the engine cam, chain was set?

You’re gonna have to correct all of the crap grammar and misspelling before I can offer any advice.

It kills me that people ask for help, when the hardest part is just being able to read the original post.

It’s a timing chain dude. It was spelled that way on the box you got it from.

Better yet, I’ll just sit this one out.

The 'old timers' around here can get a little grumpy, but yeah, let me see if I can point you in a direction.
The timing pointer has to be installed, (don't know if the engine is together or not) does the #1 piston have compression as 0* on balancer comes up to the pointer?
Just to be clear, your question was about moving the cam when not moving the crank, line up the sprockets dot to dot and that should be good.
i'm pretty sure
Well, maybe not 'pretty' sure
although it could be 'pretty' ugly if I'm wrong
in that case just 'send it'

Yes I might’ve walked just the cam not the crank. Yes it does have the hissing as getting to tdc.Engine is together. I’m thinking/hopeing I may be off on timming hopefully the dizzy and not at the chain. I was thinking I was off somewhere on the timming chain

Just to be clear, you had the engine at TDC on the compression stroke when you installed the timing set, correct? Also, your compression numbers are very low. Did you have the throttle body blocked open?

I did have on compression stroke,I didn’t block the throttle open,I just held the pedal down,in a few days I will try and restab the dizzy and check the timming with the gun. I was just going on ear with the timming, might be harder to hear because the cam.

Rookie mistake.
Experience would have you advancing and driving and advancing and driving until you lost power or spark-knock occurs.
Us 'lazy' mechanics just use a timing light.

I kept up with the initial, long post. But you lost me on this derail.

Anyway, unless the cam was ground so it needs to be installed or advanced, (and some are made that way - both on purpose and accident), the pic looks close enough. I suggest using an ignition timing light before tearing anything apart again.

Ok update on this,Verified timming,I set it with the spout out at 14 with timming gun,I ran codes few times. My engine is shaking I’m getting 31 and 63 with a occasional cel light. I checked wiring with test light had light at tps on 2 of the 3 wires. No light at tps wire - or + with koko but it does have contuity from tps wire to tps wire at the ecu connector. As for the egr same thing I have light at 2 but not at the green/bk wire evp- or + koko. I do have contunity from egr evp wire at the egr connector all the way to the ecu connector. I also have conuity from that bk green wire from egr to the tps wire so I’m kinda thinking it could be my ecu? I did change my ecu and tried it on my other stand while back could that cause this?

Maybe Timothy McGee was helping. That would be Timming. Maybe he could help with some detective work.

@Creomod
As far as being helpful, I am not following the test procedure well. I do not think you are testing the right wires for the right readings. Have you seen the full engine wiring diagram or the sensor one. jrichker has posted?

Actually as of today,I knocked off 31 and 63 codes but then I got 96. The engine has been shaking like it wants to turn off. Don’t have a fuel gauge on it, I’ll get it see what’s the fuel pressure. New bbk FP ,so I’m assuming a bad fuel regulator might be it. It looks really old. Not sure if a bad reg could set off a 96 code
