I got my bosh sensors and I was looking at how to remove them and all I have is a wrench...is there any special tool or tricks to getting these sensors off easily?

- Let the car cool down
- Disconnect the negative battery terminal
- Pull the headlight knob as if turning the headlights on
- Jack the car up
- Disconnect both sensors plugs
- Use a crescent wrench to break the sensors loose
- Loosen the rest of the way by hand
- Install the new sensors, tightening by hand as far as possible
- Tighten snuggly with crescent wrench
- Reconnect both sensors plugs
- Push headlight knob back in
- Reconnect negative battery terminal
- Fire her up and let her rip!!!!!!!

Cool...I know this might be dumb but why do I pull the headlight knob to the "on" position...what does that do?...Really have to use a cresent wrench? Thanks for the help..Im still new to these stangs...

Justin is having your clear the computer's stored/adapted strategies in case your old O2's were off (and being compensated for). It shortens the learning curve and is a good idea. The headlight part is simply a means of discharging the computer's capacitive charge.

I also use a crescent wrench. It works well IMHO. I also use a dab of neverseize on the threads before installation. If you have a big enough box end wrench, go for it. Most folks dont. They sell a special socket which works ok if you have room to use it (most of us dont).

Good luck.

If there on there really tight, unplug them and run a box wrench from the harness to the hex on the sensors and whack the end of the wrench with a hammer. If there siezed on there that usually breaks them loose. And use aiti-sieze on the new ones. The box wrench/hammer method works good when replacing them but if your gonna reuse them (ie. if swapping mid pipes, etc.) dont do that. o2's dont take well to impacts and theres a chance you may damage them. Thats why you use the neversieze/anti-sieze for the next install. OH you know what you could just cut the wires off the o2 also and put a box wrench on for removal too.
