i live in cali so no o/r pipes for me... was thinking would an exhaust shop be able to remove 1 cat on each of the pipes and just welding in a straight pipe?

Id think this would make it a little louder and a little less restrictive, but nothing spectacular.

what you guys think?

most exhasut shops wont do it. its illegal to remove cats in CA. you can only have the stock H pipe with all 4 cats on it.

California is GAY man!!! wtf?! I wouldn't be able to own my mustang if i HAD to leave the stock cats on there. Can you even change it for Aftermarket exhaust with 2 cats? Does it have to be Factory cats, or does it just have to pass emissions?

honestly most dont care. ive had friends pulled over in their stangs and all the cops ask is where they got their exhaust from. i had a cop pull up next to me when i was i nmy stang and he said "looks nice, get a borla catback and a o/r x pipe and that thing will sound awesome."

the main things to worry about are jurisdictions that actually care about emissions violation tickets. also when you are near a cop dont make it obvious that you have a loud exhaust, namely keep it under 3k. also look out for the mobile smog stations. they run traffic down to 1 lane and randomly pull a car out and make them get a smog test right there. if you run they send the CHP after you. there was a guy on SVTP that got his cobra impounded for 30 days for having a catted X pipe.

Yes it has to be the factory h pipe to be legal in Cali.
Don't remove the cats or it is possible depending on the cop
that you can get a 1K fine, impounded car,or even tooken
to jail for a few nights.I say stick with the factory h pipe
if I were you.
