How in the $#*& does this stuff come off? I need to have these pieces prepped for my body man by saturday, and don't want to destroy them with a heat gun or adhesive remover in the process. What has worked for you guys?

the eraser wheel will eat the mouldings use the 3m adhesive remover stuff and razor blades for putting it back on 3m urethane window weld works great and isnt gonna go bad like the double sided tape a few years down the road!PuterAmI said:Yep, called Stripe Off Wheel. Use it at a low speed on a drill. Get the wheel that has the drill adapter. Cost is ~$25.

How? It is not even touching the moulding when you use it to take off the tape residue from the metal backing.RMODEL65 said:the eraser wheel will eat the mouldings
Yes, except for lacquer paint. If used properly, it "rolls" the residue from the metal strip much like you would by using your thumb. I've been doing this for years and as long as the moulding was taken off without bending it, the metal strip need not be taken out of the moulding.Roland69 said:I think they are used for removing decals
This is the exact method we used when I painted my car. If you take the metal strip out, it allows the molding to lay flat so it can be sprayed. We used double sided 3M molding tape and haven't had any problems. The best way to go my friend, good write-up!
