Hey guys I need help,

Im going to attempt to remove the a/c system on my 89 4 banger to clear up some room for the 351W swap in progress the 2.3 a/c pump will not bolt to the 5.0 brackets .I have been in appliance repair before and have heard the freon in the system if released could freeze up your lungs...thats bad along with the EPA and the ozone layer not liking that... but I dont have a removal system for it is there anyway I can rig a propane bottle or something to catch the freon? or is there anyway to see if its got freon in there still a gauge or something?

If you decided to suck on the outlet connection for the a/c system while you discharged the freon then yes I could see it damaging your lungs but it won't freeze them. You can remove the a/c system without opening the system up I think. To check if there is freon in the system you can press the valve in the connection with a screwdriver to see if anything comes out. Or you could just turn the a/c on and see if the compressor comes on. If you don't want to release it to atmosphere then a shop would be your best bet to get it the freon removed.
