Is it possible to remove a preformace tune from your mustang’s ECU and not be detected by a service center? For example, I have a SCT tune on my mustang. If I wanted to flash it back to the original stock tune will Ford be able to detect it was ever modified?

They will be able to figure it out on these 11+ cars due to the way the computer reads out.

The reason I'm asking is I'm thinking of trading in my 2012 for a 2013 Shelby and I feel I'll get a better trade-in value if I remove the tune. Maybe ... Maybe not.

The issue about that is the potential to screw over whoever buys your car. It'd be best to atleast mention it to the dealer because can you imagine buying a used 2012 GT and bringing it in for something and getting warranty denied due to a previous owners tune

I agree that I wouldn't want to be the one to find out my car had no warranty after buying it and thinking there was. I'm pretty sure Ford can re-certify it and maybe even put in a new ECU before they resold it.

That brings up a question I've had. I purchase a used 2011 GT. For conversation's sake, I know nothing about the 5.0L/tune TSB. 6 months later, it develops an engine issue. I take it to my local ford dealer. They say I'm SOL cause it had a tune on it. Am I screwed?
Also, I'm sure non-Ford dealers wouldn't do this, but would Ford dealers check 5.0s for evidence of a tune before taking it in on trade?

I would hope they woudn't check for a tune but if they do and start to reduce the trade in value, I'll take it to CarMax and sell it.
