Its really easy with an impact but then you have to remove the cooling fan , Ive also had a mechanic friend of mine tell me to use a break over bar and rest it on the swaybar and crank the engine to break the bolt free.

If your car is an automatic - the only way is to remove fan/radiator and hit it with an impact wrench. Breaker bar alone will not do the trick unless to can stabilize the flywheel.

its a manual but i still cant break it loose... i'll probably end up borrowing an impact wrench from someone..

is there a way to keep the flywheel in place while i turn it?

Try putting the car is 3rd or 4th gear and see how that works out.

I put a new HB on my 4.6L 2v engine. I used an impact gun to zip the bolt out. Then I just used an Autozone 16.99 HB puller. When I reinstalled it, I just GENTLY tapped the new HB on the end of teh crank and then put the bolt in, gently squeezing the trigger on the impact gun. The bolt touches the HB and keeps it square with the crank, so you don't damage anything. I put a touch of antiseeze on the bolt....not a gob, just a touch.

That'll work. That's what I did. I just used a 24" breaker bar to remove the bolt. I do have air tools but I didn't want to remove the fans to remove the bolt. Pearl02.

Either breaker bar against the frame and crank the motor, impact gun, or put the car in gear and get a cheater bar.

I would use an impact if I were you. Using the braker bar method requires puting the stress through the internals of the driveline. It also beats up the starter.

Impact off, impact on. Nothing is easier. Removing the fan takes like 3 seconds.

i tried every way i could think of with a breaker bar but the bolt always won

so after my air compressor was too much of a b**** to power an air impact i bought an electric one and it did trick, but my aftermarket fan doesn't unbolt so i had to remove the radiator to get it in there. which is only two bolts so its all good.

thanks for the help

Which cordless impact did you buy that took of a crankbolt? I have a Matco 1/2" cordless and wouldn't touch a crank bolt on a honda!
