So I'm trying to replace my hinge pins and bushings... starting with the lower hinge on the driver's side since it's worn the most. I cut the old pin in half with a dremel tool, and the top half of it came out pretty easy by just grabbing it with a vice-grips.

However... the lower half of the pin seems to be stuck in the hinge very firmly. I've tried hitting it with a hammer using a long screwdriver as a punch, but it's not moving at all. I'm assuming that the bottom 'head' of the hinge pin is either spot welded to the hinge (though I don't see an obvious weld) or just rusted in place... I'd try to cut the head off, but it's pretty impossible to get in there with the dremel. Any suggestions on what to do from here?

i just replaced all my pins and bushings.I had the fenders off as i am doing body work, but the bottom pin is a bitch remove the hinge from the body and pull the door away from the car.be carefull not to pull to far as the harness in the door does not have much give.with the door off the car and on some jackstands drive the pin downwards also use a punch a screwdriver will not transfere enough energy to drive the pin out.also when the pin is almost out you may have to cut in half again as it will not clear the bottom of the door.gd luck

Definetly take the door off, your door harness has three plugs under the kick panel and 6 bolts on the a pillar. Cut the pins and drive them out. Sometimes you will need to hit them very hard. Then knock out the old bushings. Take a large pair of channel lock pliers and press the bushings in. You can put a socket on the other side of the hinge to get more squeezing power out of the pliers. Next hang up your door and drive the pins in.

Use a punch as mentioned. Or a large set of channel locks to squeeze it out.
