removing flow bar in stock maf,ok to do?

i want to remove the flow bar,is it ok to do this?will it effect the way the sensor reads the air coming in?has anyone done this?if so what are the do's and dont's?

ive heard dont do it because it causes major drivablility issues, and dosent give you that much of a power boost.

From a technical point of view...............

that mod will make the maf report inaccurate airflow to the pcm.

From a real life point of view.................

some have done it with no probs
and
some have not been so lucky

I've done it and found no benefit from removing it. The car drove fine with it removed. IMHO just hold off until you upgrade to an aftermarket MAF.
