So I've heard that they're just held in by tension? I'm trying to take the stock straps out. They look riveted in...I want to reuse them. I can drill them out but how do I reattach them?

Any help is appreciated, all I need to do is get a tank in this thing and it's ready to fire up.

I can't 100% remember for certain, but I sort of remember the straps having to be rotated 90-deg and wiggled out. If memory serves, the ends of the straps are locked into place by being slid into small slots.

The back of the straps have pins that go through them. The mounts in the body have holes so you can place a small screwdriver through them and hammer those pins out to remove the straps. That's how I got mine out. When I reinstalled, I just ran bolts through the holes so I didn't have to deal with those dumb pins anymore.

Right. Remove the strap bolts (hold up the tank), and the straps will rotate down as if on a hinge...because they basically are. Push/punch the pins out and the straps come free.
