I have a 92 AOD and want to replace the stock shifter knob with an aftermarket piece.

I know which piece I want but before I buy I want to make sure I can get the damn stocker off without breaking anything. Well, the handle itself can break but if there are any internals that need to remain functionable, I want them safe!

SO! Anyone have a clue? There are no bolts or screws on the underside/front of the handle, so it must be forced, glued, fused, welded, or something similar.

It HAS to come off one way or another.

Thanks.

Dave, i dont know, but i will give you a bump. i have not seen a slushbox stang, but with other fords, there is sometimes a U-shaped type clip on the handle, which slides out. then the handle can come off. just thought i would toss that out, though im sure you would have tried that if there was one. mostly just a bump and to say hi.
good luck.
