removing the charcoal canister

ok im trying to loose some weight...and ive heard removing the charcoal canister will help? whats it for? even better what is it? what does it even look like? and how much does it weigh?

No real benefit to removing the charcoal canister. It doesn't weight very much.

Basically the fuel tank has a vent line that goes to the charcoal canister so that any fumes end up in there and not out in the atmosphere or stinking up your garage (some guys have had probs with this other haven't  ). There is also a line that goes from the canister to the intake with a little solenoid valve in it. When the car is running the valve is opened and the fumes are drawn into the intake system and used in the combustion process.

Some guys don't like how it looks kinda cluttering up the engine bay so they swap to the tire side of the frame rail.

there are much better ways get rid of weight, remove sound deadiner"sp",spare tire, go fiberglass hood, finders, doors, hatch, lighter rims, lighter seats, go manual with windows and locks, i've heart of a guy drilling a bunch of 1/2inch holes in the front and rear bumpers "inner not the bumper covers"
