I got the x2 balljoints so I need to take the lower control arm off and get the new ball joints and bushings pressed in tommarow. Any advice in getting them off, I heard it is a real pain in the ass. I'm also doing the bumpsteer kit but that seems pretty self explanitory. Any help is appreciated!

Thanks

Adam

the control arms are easy but you will need a long handle breaker bar or ratchet because the nuts and bolts are on there pretty good, when you undo the spindle, you must hammer on the spindle and not the ball joint, other than that just the regular jack stands and a jack will do just fine, the bumpsteer kit must be done with a bumpsteer guage for best results but as long as the tie rod is parallel with the control arm you should be ok.

Thanks i got everything off, driver side fine,
one of the bolts on the passanger side holding the control arm on is stuck. I hammered at it for hours and it would come loose. Just that one bolt and everything is good and I can bring the parts to the shop. It sucks real bad. ANy advice, I'm going to try to heat it up in a few.

yeah i'm not having any luck with even a propane tortch. THe bolt moves maybe 1 inch but only after hitting it with a sledgehammer. I'm going to leave the spacers out it's only a quarter inch more of a drop. I'll post a pic if you want with its done with my springs. Thanks again

Get a BIG breaker bar or steel pipe. I mean like 4 foot long. Those bolts are big so I doubt youll snap one. Either that or youll need an acetylene (sp) torch. Propane doesnt get it hot enough, acetylene will get it nice and hot to break the rust.

Yeah the problem is it just spins and doesnt back out. It must be rusted inside the metal sleeve the bolt goes through real bad. It's so bad, i've never seen anything like it, i guess I'm going to have to find acetylene tortch or something. This sucks real bad, I just got my gears installed and now I cant even drive it. Thanks everyone, i'll let you know how it goes.

Unless there is something very different about the X-2 ball joints they can be done on the car. Regular ball joints can be installed with a ball joint press which you can probably borrow at Autozone. Much easier than removing the arms for just the ball joints.
