Well my damn balancer (stock) is shot, needs to be replaced. Should I just go get a stock replacement from Ford or look into an aftermarket one? If aftermarket what should I look for?

Did it the same way he said. If your not looking into spending a lot of money and want a decent balancer, check out the powerbond balancers. I think they go for around $170 which is a lot cheaper than the romac. It may not be as nice, but it'll be a lot better than stock.maypo59 said:Had mine off of my '83 about a dozen times, always needed a puller, but never needed to press it on. Pulled it on with the bolt. Worked fine.
Could've bought a nice Romac and then kept it for the 3315LiterFever said:called ford today and ordered a stock replacement. $117.50, done deal. i only need this motor to run for another 8-12 months as i will be putting in a brand new 331 so i went the cheapest route.

82/83+ (cant remember, it was one of those years) to current 5.0 have a 50oz imbalance. just about every stroker out there uses a 28oz imbalance so you would need a different balancerHairyCanary said:Could've bought a nice Romac and then kept it for the 331

Really? I didnt know that crap!TheRedBlur said:stock is crap. Rated at 4500 RPMs![]()

i really hope that it lasts that long. when my balancer went, i replaced it with a stock replacement. 2000 miles later it was wobbling again. my romac is well over a year old now and still spins flawlessly. i could have saved over $100 had i just done it right the first time. hopefully, the stocker works out better for you than it did for me.5LiterFever said:called ford today and ordered a stock replacement. $117.50, done deal. i only need this motor to run for another 8-12 months as i will be putting in a brand new 331 so i went the cheapest route.
