Lets be realistic guys, there is a WHOLE lot of exaggeration going on here. He posted the question obviously because he's never done it before. therefore, assuming he's got some good mechanical skills, the first time is gonna take him an entire sat and and entire sun, 8-10 hours a day. The first two times, it took me an entire weekend. 5 hours is almost complete bs. I'm really, really good doing this now. Maybe if I was having a marathon contest I could pull 5 hours fairly easily, but then again, I've done probably close to 15 clutch jobs on mustangs already.

no offense or nothing mob but ur posting alot for not knowing much
read up on things get a full engine encyclepedia
rebuild cars with friends
hand on experience
u seem like u have a want for car knowledge and im not sure a forum is the best way to get the knowledge you'll get alot of bull****,flames, people who dont know what there talking about and get caught up in name calling etc.....
hands on experience is the best way IMO or go to a local library get a car encyclepedia that shows every aspect of a car how a transmission works, Functions of a clutch, you will see the advantages of porting certain items in like some of your other posts, and other things
I am no expert but i have basic knowledge ive rebuilt legend cars and ive raced them for a while , with that ive replaced clutches, been under cars, saw how everything functions and all the good stuff
not flaming you or making fun i am not a big fan of that just giving you my opinion
I completely and respectfully utterly disagree. Message forums have got to be hands down the best source of information for working on cars and modifying them that I have ever gotten. 2 years or so back, before the internet, I was "ok" at working on cars. I hit the internet, got on just about every mustang board, and now two years later, I would call myself a bonified expert in Many, not all of the fox chassis area. Of course, this was not from reading alone. I would read and ask a million questions, then go home and do the work on my own car. Get stumped?? Ask ten thousand other hard cores who have run into the same problem and can help you get it fixed in no time flat.
I'm gonna say this, and if people get upset, i'm sorry. Stangnet is FAMOUS for their bad tech. I'm not gonna point fingers at all. I suspect this site is comprised of a whole lot of younger people (under 20) who don't have a lot of experience. I didn't like this place a lot at first because everyone was throwing out aweful advice, but I thought that I had a lot to offer, and could help out those who need it, and counterbalance some of the bad tech. there are a LOT of hardcore sites such as foureyedpride.com, and the corral where you can get very, very good tech 9 out of 10 times. Don't get me wrong, I love stangnet very much too.
the biggest point is being smart enough to be able to weed out the bs from the good answers. You can almost always weed out the bad tech, because those who don't know as much can't explain their answers in full detail. You get the hang of knowing who knows what they're doing.
Just my .02. If it were not for message forums, I would be in the dark ages. Message forums allow people to gain off of others experiences. From reading peoples successes and failures, I have gained an easy 10 years + worth of experience, because I am able to go straight out and work on my car, and not duplicate all of the mistakes others have made.
edit: i completely agree that hands on experience is the ONLY way to gain REAL knoweledge. Message forums imo complement hands on experience, and allow you to do it right the first time.
