Lately I have been noticing a "clunk" in my front end whever I hit large bumps, so this past weekend I jacked up my car to investigate. Sure enough, the rear bushing on the driver side front control arm is shot; I can actually see the gap around the bolt where the rubber bushing used to be. Is it possible to change these bushings without getting a spring compressor? I wondered if I could support the control arm with a jack and remove the bolts, and then lower it to swap the bushings.
