Replacing Fuel Pump

I'd get a 255 pump while you're in there....just got a TRE performance for $70 shipped off corral.

Well the stang was the only car running right now so I had to get it done. Couldn't wait.

I got it done already. It only cost me $100

The pump ended up being free. A guy down the street who has a classic being re-done had some spare parts around from his last project and happen to find a fuel pump that had never got put in. And a friend of mine has his own shop so he did it for only $100. Had it done in just a couple hours.

I started to change my fuel pump today an it was a nightmare. One of the bolts stripped that was holding the gas tank in, so i had to drill that out. Then i couldn't get the fuel lines off an that was a nightmare. Finally got the fuel pump changed to a Trick Flow 255, but can't get it back in an closed. So i gave up tonight an will go back at it Wednesday. I have been working on this car every day since july 4th and its almost done, so i need a break.

Yea...the hardest thing about swappin a pump to me is getting the unit back into the tank lol. It seems so easy...yet it just doesnt go in

Trick

Convincing the new pump to go back into its home is a bit tricky.

Here is a tip that should help: Look through the hole in the side of the tank where the filler neck goes while you put the pump assembly in from the top of the tank.

I just finished doing mine myself and I must say, not exactly a fun job.

i finally got it last night, it was a pain in the ass. For some reason it just didn't want to go in.

The worst part was when taking the tank down, one of the bolts stripped coming out. Oh boy was that a treat getting that out.
