Ok i found a ford maf at the wreakers just laying on the ground with the electronic modual still on it but it has a different pigtail than my set up and defintly has a bigger body, i ended up hiding it because i might go back for it , i did not get the #s that were on the modual but quick question , if i go back and pick it up can i use my current modual thats on the car and just replace the bigger body, also how can i get this modual off, it looks like it takes a special tool to take off, it looks like a star bit with a hole in the middle. they want $20 for it wich is a pretty good deal if i can use it. any info would be greatly appreciated.

i basically have the same thing. i picked up a used MAF from a crown vic last week. the body itself is bigger and uses the same harness but the sensor is realllllllly dirty. i was wondering if i could just swap my stock one into the new housing.

Never swap electronics from one MAF to another. MAF's are not plug and play. Just because it's a Ford MAF and bigger than stock doesn't mean it will function correctly. Want a cheap upgrade J/Y MAF? Find a 94/95 GT. They came stock with a 70mm unit and it's transfer functions are very similar to the foxbody. The computer will be able to compensate with this MAF so it is the only plug and play MAF you can upgrade to.

This gent is right. The transfer curve difference will probably bite you (on one meter, X amount of air-mass = 2.0 volts. On the other meter, X amount of air might = 1.5 volts). If all the Ford meters were interchangable, we'd all run LMAF's.

And as said, dont swap the electronics. If anything, you should end up running lean.

The 70 mm F2 94-95 Mustang swap is tried and true (Always use married pairs of housings and electronics).

Good luck.
