Hey everybody I was looking to make my mustang a little louder. I just envy that roar that everyone else has. Its an 04 gt and I was looking at just getting a set of summit glasspacks and clamping them in. What would I need? I do live in cali but I would be willing to switch them out for smog but that means no x pipes or catbacks though.

Flowmaster original 40's welded in will give you a nicer tone and make it a tad louder. You can check my sound clip below. I have my X pipe combo, and a sound clip of just after installing the Flows.

In California, the only problem you will have with exhaust systems with regards to smog are:

A. You must have 4 Cats that have Cal State Tag Numbers on them

B. No long tubes, don't ask why because its a dumb reason but that's the rule

You can run any cat back you like, I have had 4 different cars with custom cat-backs and never had a problem. Store bought will be the same.

You can get a custom made X-pipe if you like, although it will not be cheap.
