I recently started working as a Real Estate Agent and my car has become my office. I am having such a hard time putting all these miles on such a beautiful brand new mustang. Moreover, this car was not meant to be a Real Estate car, due to the lack of doors, poor gas mileage, and unprofessional character. Don't get me wrong but I love this car, but it's not working out for my life right now.

So now I'm wondering whether to get myself a really cheap commuter, or just trade it in for something new and practical. The new VW passat TDI gets incredible gas mileage and it's pretty nice for the money.

Problem is that this car seems like it has one of the worst resale values of the century. It has every option, so the original price was near 40k but less than one year later and 7000 mi on the od and Kelley Blue Books is listing my car as being worth $27k trade in!! Can this possibly be right?

Maybe it is the "unprofessional character" of the car that brought it down....lol...never heard that one before.

Cheap commuter will not look very professional unless you step up in money.

Seems like many agents here run an small SUV as opposed to a car.

Might want to sell it outright but it is hard to say since you do not include the year of your car.

i sold real estate for 7 years in a mustang, i had an 01 gt, 03 gt, and an 06 gt. The 03 had a prochamber and various loud mufflers, the 06 had borla stingers, cherry bomb extremes, and slp loudmouths. always got compliments on the cars, and yeah you cant fit a family in their for showing houses, i had people follow me. Less liability in case of a wreck and i never had to be anyones personal chauffeur. You will rack up an asspile of miles, i averaged 36k a year, but i smiled everytime i drove it

Trading in is always the worst option, hopefully you didn't pay MSRP on your stang or it's going to hurt bad.

Nope, my former Mazdaspeed 3 was worst trade in value ever. car 36K off the lot, taxes in, 2008. By 2010-11, looking at a 13.5 k trade-in value. Thankfully, I bought mine lightly used after one year for about 30 taxes in but still. I negotiated a bit higher than that at the end of 2011 for my '12 GT, 14.5 + tax savings and I was glad to get it and get out of the wrong-wheel drive Mazda.

got my car with 32k miles on it for 19,990 and its a 2008 gt/cs, my dad and I looked at what people are asking for it a year later cus there was a tought to find a grabber orange version. well people are asking and getting 25k for my car. Must be the professional appeal it has.
