Restoring 85 gt tails

I recentely aquired a ste of 85 gt tail lights housnings and lenses. They were fades and had overspray from gray primer. I am going to put these on my 93 with a set of LED bulb conversions, they are going ot be sweet. I have already polished the lenses and taped off the red sections and got the oginal faded red pinstripe off and sanded these up a bit. I just painted the housings black and the lenses black where they are supposed to be. I have a question though what kind of stuff should I use to seal the lenses to the housings, the stuff that came off was a real thick sticky black goo, but I can identify it. Well RTV or what?

I forget the name, but that black "tape" is available at Autozone.

Be warned, if you try to run LED replacment bulbs in that style taillight, the bulb is located directly behind the horizontal bar. The LED light doesn't reflect as well as the incandescent bulb and they will be pretty dim.

Oh its 28 leds on a 4 nch by about 6 inch printed circuit board for the tails and a 2 inch by four inch layout for the amber turn signals. I will look for this tape, is it weatherproofing stuff
